In February 2014, a small film crew volunteering for the Cambodian Broadcasting Network, followed six carpentry students from Melbourne, Australia to Cambodia. It is here the students undertook the challenge of building an arts centre far from the convenience of their first world existence alongside Khmer trades people and adapted to a world without resources, in a nation that has suffered substantial deprivation and misplacement.

Volunteering their time and resources to document this inspiring change in the rural community of Chumkriel CBN MEDIA aims to document the dawn of a new era, brought about by partnerships with the mutual goal of effecting long lasting change.

Swinburne Built Environment and local Khmer builders worked together to construct a community arts centre in Kampot Province, south Cambodia. This building project and cultural exchange is the nucleus of documentary film, A COMMON GOAL.
